Here’s the beginning of the Crow Wood @ Rowditch Allotments plot.
We’ve been busy starting our first border along the south side of the plot, using a thick card and woodchip mulch to discourage weeds. This area will be home to fruit bushes and rhubarb that can cope with shade.
The soil is an amazing black loam- lovely to dig, even in the wet weather we’ve been having.
The photos show one of our smaller volunteers helping to replant chunks of a rhubarb clump we split and moved from a different part of the site.
Donations of plants mean that we’re going to have at least 3 different varieties of rhubarb growing on the plot this coming spring!
